Session Log 12

Mars Tier

• Fearing either inaction or dangerous meddling on behalf of the authorities - which had now become aware of the situation - the sentinels decided to return to the Mars surface to investigate the source of the dust plume. Terry drove them down again, and this time Nicklas used his contacts to arrange a “honeymoon tour” of the Martian outback. It ultimately proved a reliable but relatively slow course into the TQZ that depended more on hackers spoofing satellite feeds than it did fancy flying.

• The team raced right up to the dust plume and did a series of flybys and circuits. At their closest pass they saw what appeared to be a perfectly circular disk ten meters across that was moving at about 15 kph across the desert floor, carving through terrain obstacles like it had no thickness, leaving a clear path back towards the strange building complex Kru had identified on the last trip. Terry plotted the objects course and determined that it was headed not for Pathfinder City, but for the Pathfinder Gate Complex forty clicks south of the city. At its current speed it would reach the Complex in approximately 5.4 days.

• The party decided to check out the disks point of origin and followed its track to what did indeed turn out to be the site of the strange structures. One quick flyover revealed a number of variously-sized, dark gray, cylindrical structures with odd, curvilinear markings. They appear to have been built - formed, extruded, grown? - on the foundations of some large, pre-Fall, transhuman habitat dome.

• Terry landed the shuttle about a click away and the team armored up and headed towards the complex on foot.

Stars Our Destination Tier

• The Stars instantiation of the team set about trying to get the lay of the Swarm - some as we shall see, more successfully than others.

• Terry gave a speech and failed to deflect any of the attention off himself. His @-Rep remains pegged at 100.

• Quest #5 - In Space No One Can Hear You Scream - Unlocked
Piv encountered some recruiters from We Come to Probe You, all ARed out like badass videogame warriors. They were looking for a few good transhumans to help them make an upcoming salvage run. They made Piv for a soldier boy and asked him if he wanted in. Piv asked some questions but was told he would only get the beta if he agreed to terms of non-disclosure and attended the briefing.

Turns out the crews of We Come and Boytoy are going to do a joint operation on Blackrock - a captured asteroid at one of the Lunar lagrange points that was build up as a comm relay and Earth/Mars cycler hub before the Fall. It went dark, was thought to have been lost to the TITANs and has been silent ever since - until now. Recently, strange, modulated radio signals have been emanating from inside the station and have caught the salvage teams’ attention. Given the slim pickings in local orbit and the need for resources to support the Swarm, the two ships are going for it and are even planning to supplement the mission income by running it as a competitive, reality show vidcast to the Swarm.

• Nicklas made arrangements to meet with Amrita Shah, the Deceptacon hacker / porn star / Firewall sentinel who first reported Oz-4’s presence on the Swarm. They plotted briefly about the Swarm and finding Oz-4. When she found out that The Ferryman was part of the sentinel she asked to meet Terry and then asked him in turn if he would like to make a video. He did and they did and Terry was very, very tired. And amazed. But mostly tired. And her editing software even made him look good.

• Rentlov got a call from John 117, who was drowning his concerns about being wanted at Notorious and reported that he had eyes on a guy in a handsome Sylph morph whose kinesics profile was uncannily similar to Rentlovs.

• Rentlov, with Terry in tow - now no longer wearing a Reaper morph - tracked him down and followed him into a high-rep residential part of Three Sheets. There he watched him go into a posh residence apparently belonging to Osiris, the host of “Dead Orbit.”
